Today bench is characterised by its oak wood construction, with armrests joined perpendicularly to a low backrest through simple butt joints. Inspired by the wooden settees commonly found in early Straits Chinese homes, Today bench is abstracted into a contemporary context. By observing traditional proportions and construction, its visual presence is both brutal yet light — enigmatic, yet familiar.
